We just keep getting more and more INTENSE this year. Our latest guest for you is famed classic game composer and demoscene figure Chris Huelsbeck (Hülsbeck). He's done some amazing soundtracks such as Turrican, R-Type C64, and The Great Giana Sisters! His Turrican Kickstarter was hugely popular, so expect to hear some great things out of him regarding that project.
Also, expect him to be present at MAGFest's first ever demoparty! That's right, the amazing demo culture is finally making it's way to MAGFest. Bring your computer and participate in a group of teams that will be working diligently all weekend to make the most technically impressive demos they can.
More props to Audun Sorlie for getting Huelsbeck for us.
MAGFest has always been about fan creations, whether it be music, arts, crafts, or anything really game related. One area we've never given enough attention to, though, is indie games. Well NO MORE! THE LINE MUST BE DRAWN HERE! This year, MAGFest is going balls out to support both fans and developers of indie games alike. I proudly present to you: The MAGFest Indie Game Showcase!
How does it work? It's simple! If you are part of an indie game studio, or are making an indie game, you get a FREE table at MAGFest to demo off your game. No catches, no tricks, no traps. You get free exhibit space for all four days of the event to show off your game. We anticipate huge response to this, so make sure to apply for your table as soon as possible. Full details are available on our indie game showcase page.
What? VIDEO ROOM is evolving! Congratulations! Your VIDEO ROOM has evolved into GAMES ON FILM!
That's right, ladies and gents. For the first time ever in MAGFest history, we are officially launching our very own film festival, Games on Film! Come see a dozen different documentaries, movies, and series all revolving around the world of gaming. These will be playing all four days of MAGFest, and you can even expect to see some of the creators of these awesome features speaking about their creations! No movies about Sunny Kitty are currently planned, but we may change that if demand is high enough...
Games on Film is a brand new feature to MAGFest made possible through our "incubator program." Chad Williams wanted to create a gaming based film festival, so we decided he should have the chance to make it happen. We wanted to name it the Film And Gaming Festival, but he suggested Games on Film instead. Still not sure why. Do you have an idea for a band new feature of MAGFest that you'd like to see in the coming years past M11? Submit it to the MAGFest incubator!
