I didn't go to Magfest 6 so I'm not sure of how good the security was then. I remember at Magfest 5 we had to check monitors/towers in/out. Which seemed like a good system, if there was someone always there. What is the security going to be like this year?
I also remembered having to deal with dialup at 5. Has this been dealt with?

Security has only been improving. Checkins are smoother and much more reliable, now that LAN and jamspace share a security checkpoint. Internet is always a problem with hotels, but this hotel is significantly better than the M5 one. We'll never get a really amazing connection out of a hotel, but at least we wont have to fall back on a 56k modem. =]

I agree It went really smooth last year. I never felt like it was a bad idea to leave my rig there while I went and did other stuff.
INTERNETS? AT MY MAGFEST?!!?
We're looking at speeds comparable to that of high speed DSL but shared between all our attendees. (Last year we shared a connection slower than budget DSL.) Expect to authenticate games that require it, but please for the love of all that is gaming, DO NOT download full games over the Internet at MAGFest.
Please, please, please INSTALL and UPDATE all your games BEFORE coming to MAGFest. You will inconvenience yourself and others if you do not have your games and system up to date. Also try to enjoy gaming at MAGFest. Save the lolcat browsing for home! If there is something you want to show around, please do not pass out its URL, instead download it and redistribute it (ask staff for help).
We will offer various methods to help attendees help us reduce the amount of superfluous Internet traffic.
