How many of you out there think I should let you use outside controllers as in joysticks for fighters and GH instruments for Rockband and vise versa?
Is it fair to everyone to use their preferred controller as opposed to making it "fair" by forcing everyone to use the "original" controllers and gamepads?

Let folks use their own sticks. That is standard. The only exception is if you know certain controllers blow ports (like MAS sticks on DC with 'el cheapo convertors)

As long as the controller
As long as the controller doesn't do anything extra that the original doesn't do Then it should be allowed. I play certain fighters with an arcade stick and certain fighters with a pad. I should be allowed to use what I'm used to. Also with rock band/guitar hero, I'd much rather use my own instrument as the ones set up for play could have all sorts of unknown abuse already on them. I can't blame a controller if its mine.

You should be able to use your own controller, but it should be the same controller as what everyone else is using. For example, Rock Band controllers, not off brand or GH.

But...
what about us kids who grew up on GH not rockband. Plus my GH controller sets off star power better than any RB one could ever dream of.
So do I have to suffer since i am used to the GH controller because i have used that one for years?
Or if you do GH then what about the kids who started on RB? Maybe they can't use the GH one since the buttons aren't spaced the same and the guitar is smaller.
As for fighters, yeah bring a controller. There isnt a tournament for those who use sticks and those who use pads. Just one for those who rock the game.

I think you had better bring a plastic hard hat with you to magfest because you might get a beating with plastic gutars and plastic drums if you dont let them do what they want with the controllers.

Well, I say only allow "official" controllers though. Not the off-brand Sam's Choice kinds, lol.

Be flexible. We can't let magfest tournaments get too uptight. Obviously we shouldn't allow any sort of 'cheating' controller, but what that means is up to the judgement of whoever runs the tournament. GH/RB/RB2 standard controllers shouldn't count as cheating. A modded guitar with pedals and auto-whammy or something would be a different matter.
