Hey there....
A friend of mine and I were considering attending Magfest as dealers next year and though I've ripped apart the site I still have some questions....
1) The pair of us would be sharing a table .....but we can't seem to find any input on how big these tables are (4ft, 6ft, 8ft?)....
2) As far as content on those tables...we're both artists, I we figured we'd do some sketch commission things as well as sell off random homemade stuffs. I've never done a con like this before, what do you guys want to see? I work in clay, I dabble in casting things, I also draw highly inappropiate things...Also...is there a content rating and if not to underage badges have any identifying marks (so I don't have to ask for ID if someone wants to open the binder with "other" stuff in it? I don't want to scar underage eyes....)
3) 24 hour dealing....yikes. I'm cheap and don't want to pay the "lockable room" fee....am I allowed to leave my table (obviously I'll pack up my stuff and take it with me)? I mean, I saw the whole "unassigned spots" thing and well, does that apply after the initial fight for the best spots...if I leave my spot will someone else take it?
4) Back in reference to question 2....what would you want to see? Not only in physcial types of art (sculpture stuff, resin casts, keychains, zombie brainz, drawings, bookmarks, buttons, etc) but also in actual content (certain characters, random chicks, random dudes, zombie brainz, monsterous animals, scifi, fantasy, etc)
some answers
There really isn't a "best" spot in the dealer area. This link has what the dealer area looked like at last year's magfest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQPDxN8tNSg . As far as the age identifier is concurned everyone has to wear wristbands. Green wristbands are for those 21 and over, blue wristbands are for those 18-20, and red wristbands are for those under 18. The tables stay up all of magfest so you wont need to worry about the table. Another thing to keep in mind is the vast majority of the people that attend magfest have barely enough money to get there stay in the hotel and eat. So if you make alot of less expensive things they will proably sell better then a few more expensive things. Something people might pay for is a video game related characture. Something else that might be helpful between like 8 pm and midnight there are like no dealers out selling stuff and that is primetime for magfest so if you set up shop then you might be able to make more sales.
