Minbosses
I was talking to Paul at he con and he explained to me that the reason the Minibosses had not been to the con for the past few years was that they wanted MAGFest to handle the airfair and MAGFest didn't have the cash for that.
I was wondering if it would be possible to set up a donation fund specifically for that purpose. Airfair for the MiniBosses, it tickets were purchased early enough, could be obtained for around $2,000,which seems possible to due with a donation fund. If 400 pre-regs donated $5 a peace it would be taken care of. Considering that long time staffers get their badge for free and are sure to be there, they could be willing to donate more. If enough money wasn't gained, a refund could be possible once the people got MAGFest. Something like a 'daonted funds' tab could be added to prereg info so that when they got their badge, they could get a refund. That's assuming they would even want to get the refund. I know I wouldn't mind giving MAGFest a little more.

the plane ticket thing is
the plane ticket thing is just one of the factors. its probably the biggest reason, but its not the only one. without getting into lots of details i dont fully know, i'll just say that all the issues are resolvable ones, and there is a decent chance the minibosses will return to magfest in the future. i'd like to see it happen, personally... but i'm not making any promises. we'll try.
i dont think the specific donation thing is a good idea just because its a very specialized exclusive thing, and we dont really tend to do anything like that at magfest. all our guests and bands are on a relatively even field, and having a big special case donation fund just for the minibosses will cause all sorts of drama and pro/anti-minibosses nonsense... also, it wont really help. there are other things to work out besides just the money.
