MAGFest Game Room ruined my copy of MvsC2

I registered my copy of Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the Dreamcast in the game room of MAGfest. The employees of MAGfest put a sticker on my game disc with a registration number and I was assured that the sticker would come off easily. Well, when I got home on Saturday, I decided to remove the stickers from all my consoles, controllers, and games that I brought with me. Unfortunately, the sticker that was on my copy of Marvel vs Capcom 2 peeled off the cover layer of the disc, thus rendering the disc unreadable and ruined.

I want someone in charge of MAGfest to reply back to this, and how this situation will not be an issue in the future. My copy of MvsC2 is for the Dreamcast and it is costly to replace, let alone find.

I understand the need for registration in order to keep everybody's equipment in check, but there's something to be said about allowing some personal responsibility so that the fest isn't responsible for any damaged equipment.

You should inform any future helpers of the fest to NOT put any stickers or anything in general on the discs of any game on any console. Put the stickers on the jewel or DVD case so that the disc doesn't become ruined.

I'm sorry for your loss. I've

I'm sorry for your loss.

I've honestly never had that happen with any event that I've held or at any previous MAGFests and other conventions.

The guys at MAGFest are just trying to do anything they can to keep people from stealing stuff, which obviously is going to happen without taking the proper measures. Even if the sticker was put on the DVD case, there would be no way to see that the disk goes with that particular case.

However, there is a risk that you take when you bring in a game or something that you temporarily donate to MAGFest. There is always a possibility of something happening to it that is out of the control of staff. I'm sure precautions will be taken to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Welcome to DIE!

I won't be removing my labels...

That seriously stinks man, I brought 8 dreamcast games, I may not remove the labels now. I placed the labels on the cases for the aforementioned reason you gave however the people at the check in desk insisted they be placed on the discs. were your labels the DYMO type or the handwritten ones? I have a mix of them on my games and equipment.

It kinda irked me that we

It kinda irked me that we were using handwritten labels. They don't come off nearly as easily as the labelmaker ones. People in the LAN room were commenting on how hard they were to get off, that they left residue, etc.

The labelmaker ones *should* come off without a problem. But don't hold me responsible if they don't.

this signature left blank intentionally.

i'm not the one immediately

i'm not the one immediately responsible for the game room, but i'm one of the people in charge of magfest. i'm certainly sorry about your game, that sucks. DC MvC2 is one of my favorite fighting games. =]

if i had known people were putting stickers directly on disc labels, i would have stopped that, its a bad idea for multiple reasons. the main console room suffered a lot of small problems this year. it was worse off than usual, and we had a bunch of little things go wrong. it'll definitely be getting a lot of attention for improvement next year.

GooGone = god

GooGone!

Answer to everything!

If you want to remove a sticker without damaging the label gently message it with some googone.
Let it sit for a minute then slowly scratch at the sticker with your fingernail. I checked in a few things at magfest and was able to remove the stickers with no problem.
