Internet Radio

The Internet has been notoriously elusive at our hotels so this year we've embarked on a great experiment! If you can't be with us at MAGFest join us here for a piece of the fun!

Arecibo Radio

Arecibo Radio seeks the odd, the strange, the outlandish, the unknown, and the oft-disregarded. We focus on underground and niche programs dedicated to certain cultures, communities, and forums that often have deep roots and ties with such communities.

Arecibo Radio is home to many shows, including Noise Channel, hosted by Kristina "Truestar" Kaufman, which showcases chiptune and chiptune-related music; Touhou Tuesday, hosted by Scott "Overcoat" Porter, which features music and remixes from the Touhou games; and Open Circuit, hosted by Jeffery "jmr" Roberts, which plays music from all kinds of indie rock, electronic, chiptune, and VGM bands.

Recently, Arecibo has been airing live broadcasts of Chiptune concerts, including BlipFest, Pulsewave, and 8Static.

Arecibo will be streaming the 4 days of MAGFest 11. They'll cover the Concerts, conducting Guest, Staff, and Attendee Interviews, Vendor Commercials, and many other fun functions that they come up with!

n0c

Owner and Manager of the station, n0c does not do any radio shows, realizing long ago that he wasn't very good at it. What he was good at, oddly, was keeping a radio station together. He spends most of his time updating the website and trying to expand people's musical horizons.

Kristina "Truestar" Kaufman

Radio Show: Noise Channel, Touhou Tuesday
Alchemist, yarnsmith, puggle-walker. She has, through countless years of travel and trials, been possessed of tremendous zeal for the sound of the NES; of the C64; of the X68000. As one might savor a good wine, so she sips from the gem-encrusted chalice of chiptune luxury.

Scott "Overcoat" Porter

Radio Shows: Radio Overcoat, Touhou Tuesday
Both a songwriter and a huge fan of music at the same time, his musical roots are mostly based on the Internet. In the past 10 years he's been hoarding music from netlabels, remix sites, any other free source of electronic or otherwise music to be found.

Jeffery "jmr" Roberts

Radio Show: Open Circuit
jmr hails from that rock on the eastern coast of Canada known as Newfoundland. When he's not working his ass off for his electrical engineering degree, he's filling his head with music and occaisonally taking the time to produce the odd little musical number of his own. He prefers vinyl over CD and would chose a NES over any current-gen gaming console any day of the week.

8bitX Radio Network

8bitX Radio Network was founded in 2006, as a way to pay tribute to Video Game Cover Bands, DJs, and the VGM scene. The mission has been to help new music and bands get noticed and the listeners have been able to get to know the artists behind the music through our selection of shows.

Since that time we have grown into 13+ shows surrounding the culture of video games. Shows such as The 8bit Extravaganza, The Blue Shell Manifesto, Overclocked After Dark, The Jurassic Hour, and 8bit Sex with Lauren Goodnight. Our shows feature dynamic personalities and a very interactive approach to our listeners.

8bitX represents the up and coming artists all over the video game music, and has been lucky enough to debut work from some of the best artists in the scene such as Amanda Lepre, Brando, Josh Whelchel, Geoff Barone, Random Encounter, The World is Square, Knight of the Round, and many more.

Along this line, 8bitX is honored to be streaming the new artists on the rise at the Second Stage, as well as the returning bands! Tune in to hear the next generation of video game musical acts!
