Nintendo Playstation

Come hang out and play in the MAGFest Museum!

Come see the "Holy Grail of Gaming" at MagFest! The Nintendo PlayStation Console Prototype system will be on display to Play!

Back in 1988, Sony and Nintendo signed a contract agreeing to work together to create a CD-ROM add-on for the Super Nintendo. This got as far as the prototype being made with hardware and SNES-CD titles. But the deal fell apart.

At this point all of the prototypes of the PlayStation had been recalled to be destroyed.

A former Advanta Maintenance worker (Terry Diebold) acquired the device and was later confirmed as operational. The unit plays Super Famicom and Famicom cartridges as well the test cartridge that came with the unit.

Since then, Terry and Dan have traveled far with the Prototype and have been on many Podcasts with more to come in 2017!
